Many patients want to have surgery but due to limited budget or fear, prefer to have botox injections or fillers. The positive part about having these petite procedures is no down time. Cost effectiveness can be argued, because neither is permanent, but for some cases, it produces a satisfactory result. Let’s take a look at a few such cases.
Botulinum Toxin (Botox) is a neurotoxin produced by bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is used for relaxing the muscles which in turn, reduces the thickness of the masseter muscles, making the jaw look slimmer.
I have overused masseter muscles in my jaw area, which makes my jaw look squared so I need the botox injections. The botox injections make my jaw look slimmer, without any need for surgery. I personally am too scared to have surgery, so for me, botox is the only solution for me. I also get the fat melting injection along with the botox, and those two injections combined, give me the best results. Of course, I do not have a sharp chin or V-shaped face, but I am satisfied with the results of those two injections.
I have been getting them for 2 years. I get them either every three to six months.
As you can see in the picture, it is quite dramatic. Though, I do not think that everyone can expect such results. My main issues were the overused masseter muscles and double chin, so this method is both convenient and cost-effective for me.
I wanted to have surgery because in Korea, a small face is considered beautiful. I wanted to have surgery but I am too scared so I started having injections. As long as the injections work for me, I do not think I would consider having surgery.
I have two reasons for wanting to get botox for my jaw.
1) As I get older, my facial contour is not as defined as before, especially the jaw area.
2) I wanted a smaller, slimmer facial contour.
I had a consultation with a dermatologist and he told me that my masseter muscles are overused and due to that, I would be able to see a big difference with botox injections.
I had my last botox injections about three months ago. My dermatologist told me that I should only get the botox once every six months, but I feel like if I have it too often it will not be good, or lose its effect. I only have it once a year.
When I get the botox injections, my jaw size reduces a lot. In my case, the muscles are so overdeveloped, so the injections give me a good result.
No, I am not considering surgery.
Most popular types of fillers use today are made up of hyaluronic acid. Fillers are used to add volume to the sunken areas, or to augment certain parts of the face. Depending on the type of fillers used, the results can last from 6 months to a year.
My nasolabial folds are very prominent which makes me look a lot older. I wanted to try fillers to see if the added volume would make me look younger.
The filler hasn’t gotten rid of the lines entirely, but the added volume has certainly made me look less old. The lines were quite fine, and since I am thin, I looked quite old.
Since my issue is loss of volume, then for me the solution is getting filler injections. I also heard about fat graft, but I have not had the chance to go see a doctor about it, so for now it is not an option yet.
