Eva from Chile came to have her FFS surgeries at ID Hospital. She found out about our Hospital online and decided to have her surgeries here. We met with her 1 week after surgery to check on her progress. She still has a lot of swelling but is very positive about her surgery results so far.

ID Hospital: When did you first come to realize that you are a female?

Eva: My name is Eva. I first knew I am a woman when I was little. I know that I was born as a woman and I always felt it. I came here to make my dreams come true.

ID Hospital: How many surgeries are you going to have? Why did you decide to have your these FFS surgeries?

Eva: I am going to have 4 surgeries. These are the surgeries that I need the most. I know ID Hospital offers all the solutions and it is well equipped to handle my surgeries. ID Hospital: When you did the online consultation, did you get the response that you wanted about the surgeries?

Eva: Yes, I am happy with the online consultation services. I know that there are limitations because they cannot see me in person. With the face to face consultation, they explained to me why I need the surgeries so and more information about the process. I felt more confident about the surgeries after seeing the doctor and having him draw the surgery designs before going into surgery.

ID Hospital: How do you hope to change your life with these surgeries?

Eva: Before deciding to have surgery, my self-esteem was low. I still cannot see the final surgery results so I still feel a little anxious. I know he results will be great, but I want to see it to believe it. For now, I´m happy that the toughest part (the surgery) is over.

ID Hospital: How long have you been on hormones? How did your body change with HRT?

Eva: I started the HRT 20 years ago when I was 17 years old. I went on and off HRT many times, so my body has not changed a lot because of that. The amount was too little to make any dramatic difference.

ID Hospital: What was it like coming out to family and friends? Were they accepting?

Eva: I have 4 sisters, and since I was young, my family pretty much knew I was one of the girls. It was never a surprise and I never had to announce to my family because they already knew. I never had any trouble and my family has always been supportive of me.

ID Hospital: Did people treat you differently after you transitioned? How do you deal with it?

Eva: Everyone in my town already treated me like a woman since I was young. After I had the breast augmentation and other surgeries, then I felt like I was a complete woman.

ID Hospital: What would you like to say to other transgender patients who want to have FFS surgeries?

Eva: You have to be confident of your own decisions and always fight in order to reach your dreams. You only live once so you have to decide for yourself and go for it. If you feel that you need changes and you are financially capable, then choose the best doctors for your FFS surgeries and make your dreams come true.
