Over the last 20 years, an increasing amount of men have been opting for plastic surgery procedures. Most of the procedures were anti-aging, to restore a youthful look or a rhinoplasty procedure. Men’s Plastic surgery was limited to actors, rich men etc. but in the last decade, has become something accessible to men from all walks of life. Men used to shy away from more dramatic procedures, preferring simple or non-invasive procedures to surgery. However, now popular procedures for men can be broken down to two parts, rejuvenation procedures and aesthetic procedures.
Face lift/ Skin care laser treatments: Older men opt for surgeries to look younger, ranging from more invasive procedures like a full face lift, to non-invasive lifting procedures.
Hair transplant: Men suffering from male pattern baldness or hair loss, undergo this procedure which transplants hair to the balding spots.
Brow Lift: Another popular surgery, this surgery lifts up the brow area, taking care of wrinkles and forehead creases.
Liposuction: Men may consider liposuction to help them with their fitness goals. Liposuction can help get rid of stubborn fat, creating a ripped physique.
Male breast reduction (Gynecomastia): Men who have excess breast tissues, either due to hormonal imbalances or other issues, fats and extra skin in the chest area can have their chest flattened with this surgery.
Rhinoplasty: This is the most performed type of men’s plastic surgery. Men have rhinoplasty to correct sport related injury, straighten the nose bridge; get a smaller nose to create a more balanced nose.
Double eyelid surgery/ Ptosis correction: Men with heavy set eyelids, droopy eyelids due to excess fat or skin, aging etc. opt for this type of surgery which is also known as blepharoplasty. For ptosis correction, the levator muscles are tightened to open up the eyes for a more youthful look.
V-line surgery and Cheekbone reduction: Men’s plastic surgery standards differ from the East and West, for men in the east, especially the younger generation, a v-shaped jaw is more aesthetically pleasing. As for men in the West, who prefer a more squared jaw, most patients who opt for the surgeries usually do so to correct an asymmetric jaw, a weak chin etc. Cheekbone reduction surgery is required if the cheekbone area is protruded, as the surgery will create a smoother facial contour.
Ear surgery: This type of surgery is for men who have ears very prominent ears, and the size and angle, can be altered to create more balanced features.
Implants: For patients who do not want to have bone surgery, implants can be used, in the chin area, jaw and cheekbone area to add more volume to get a better facial shape.
