One of the first palaces to be constructed in the Joseon Dynasty, Gyeongbokgung Palace, was first built in 1395. It was reconstructed at the end of the Joseon Era in 1867, and was restored again in 1990. It is comprised of several buildings, which were used as residential, and government quarters by the Royal family during the Joseon Era.
Changgyeonggung Palace was built by King Sejong for the elderly members of the Royal family. It is comprised mostly of living quarters. The greenhouse at Changyeonggung Palace is a registered cultural heritage site, and is the first Western-style greenhouse in Korea. Native Korean plants are displayed in the beautiful building and are blooming all year around.
Itaewon has the largest concentration of international residents in Seoul. There are several attractions there, including foreign food markets, diners and shops. Take the time to explore the intricate alleys to find hidden gems, unique restaurants and cafes, and have a relaxing time there.
Han River the has many attraction points, and there are many activities, like going on a cruise, dining at the floating islands, having a picnic etc. that can be enjoyed near the Han river. Hangang River Ferry Cruise offers a stunning view of the Han river. There are 3 man-made floating islands on the Han River, featuring a café, restaurants, media art gallery and observations decks.
Noryangjin Fish Market is one of Korea’s largest seafood markets. Tourists can experience the diverse species of fish and have fresh sashimi after purchasing the fish there. It is a great experience for seafood lovers.
Cheonggyecheon Stream passes close to Deoksugung Palace, Seoul Plaza, the Sejong Center, Insa-dong Street, Changdeokgung Palace, and Changgyeonggung Palace, so the major tourist sites can be visited together, followed by a leisurely stroll by the stream. A large Kyobo bookstore is also nearby.
Namsan Seoul Tower offers a panoramic view of downtown Seoul, from the top of N Seoul Tower. There are several cafes, restaurants, and museum and provides great entertainment. There is also the love locks, where couples place a lock to signify everlasting love, with a romantic atmosphere if you will visit with your significant other.
Bukchon hanok village is comprised of the traditional Korean houses named hanok. You can experience a lot of the Korean culture and tradition through the various restaurants, tea houses, cultural centers in that area.
Another location where the traditional Korean culture can be experienced is Insadong. You can find many things, from traditional foods, goods, tea houses and cafes. There are various fine art galleries too.
