Carmen's Real Self-Camera Review
Carmen Symptoms : bulbous nose, wide nostril, large alar that makes the nose look shorter and masculine.
Surgeries performed : Rhinoplasty (alar base reduction, nasal tip surgery, silicone implant and nose and ear cartilage insertion)

Reason for surgery
I had an upturned nose and large alar base which I didn't really like.
Whenever I would lift my nose slightly higher in front of a camera while filming for my channel on YouTube, I could see my nostril very obviously.

Advantages after surgery
I used to be very self conscious about my upturned nose but after the rhinoplasty, I’m just so in love with my new nose! My dream finally came true by having this perfect nose shape.
Before surgery

Hi, I’m Carmen from Malaysia.

I had insecurities about my upturned nose and large alar base and I never liked this nose.
Whenever I would lift my nose up, slightly higher in front of a camera to film myself for my channel on YouTube, my nostril was outstandingly too obviously and I didn’t really like it.

Examination before surgery

I have a bulbous nose tip, wide nostril, and a large alar base that makes the nose look shorter and masculine.
Whenever I lift my nose slightly higher in front of a camera while filming for my channel on YouTube, I can see my nostril very obviously.
It became more masculine and wide whenever I would laugh or smile.

That’s why I decided to come to Korea to undergo my surgery.
The reason I traveled all the way to Korea from Malaysia is because of their expertise and specialization.
Korea is a well-known plastic surgery hot spot for the natural look after plastic surgery.
Plus the technology are really specialized and advance in plastic surgery compared to other countries.

Consultation before surgery

I really love how Doctor Kim Il Hwan can understand what I want,
he directly drew and pinpointed the dissatisfactions of my current nose and his suggestion for my new nose.
Doctor Kim Il Hwan has 15 years of expertise in eyelid and nose surgery.
He even participated in one of the episode of Let Me In Show in Season 3.
I also show him some artist / people pictures that have my desired nose shape,
and he told me that it's a very popular request for the artist's nose shape! HAHA
I will be undergo alar base reduction, nasal tip surgery, silicon implant and nose, ear cartilage insert.

Doctor in Charge

The patient’s nose bridge appears low and the alar appears wide.
There also appears to be a lot of fat in the nose as well.
As for the tip, it appears a bit upturned.
Since the patient wants a naturally smaller nose, we will raise the bridge by using a thin implant while reducing the alar and amount of fat as well.
Overall, we will create a more sophisticated nose line that goes well with the overall balance of her face.

Before and After

Day of the Surgery

I was really nervous on the day of the surgery.
I don’t think I was able to sleep.
My first surgery ever!
I was so nervous!

I will be sedated and put under local anesthesia.
So I had to fast for about six hours.
On the day of surgery, I had another consultation and the doctor created the surgery design.
After being lead to the surgery room, I was put under anesthesia and went into a deep sleep.
Surgery Day

I think it has been about 3 hours since the surgery started.
After finishing, I felt really tired.
Since there are cotton stuffings inside of my nose, I have to breathe from my mouth.
Surprisingly, there is no pain whatsoever.
But I think I’m just really dizzy and tired from the anesthesia.

Post surgery - week 1

It has been a week since my surgery.
The taping and cast on my nose has been removed.
The stitches have also been removed.
Everyone around me says that my new nose really looks good on me 

They said I should be careful for another month.
They explained to me about the post-op precautions and that I should be careful so that the implant doesn’t shift and infection doesn’t occur.

Post surgery - week 2

It’s been two weeks since surgery.
After the surgery, I went on a trip around Korea.
I even checked out the cherry blossom festival in Jinhae.
I wore a beautiful Korean traditional dress around the palace and made sure to take lots of pictures.
Even though I have a lot of swelling still, I love my new nose!

1 month after surgery

It has been 3-4 weeks after surgery.
I still have a lot of swelling still, but it definitely has improved a lot.
They said I will be close to the final result after the 3rd month mark!
