How to travel around Seoul? 5 apps to help you navigate easily

When coming to Korea for plastic surgery, you might be nervous when thinking about how to travel around Seoul.

With super fast internet and Wifi everywhere, traveling around could not be any easier.

In the past, the navigation apps were mostly in Korean, so using them was hard if you were not fluent in Korean.

The apps have added English so it is so easy to explore all Seoul has to offer whilst healing from your surgery.

Navigation Apps to help you travel around Seoul

Naver Map: One of the best apps that in connected through all modes of public transport. You can choose your location and destination, then check which options are available to you with metro, bus, taxi or even walking. In the taxi option, it even shows you the duration of the ride and the approximate cost. For those who are wary of taking a taxi as a tourist, if you keep your location turned on, you can travel with your taxi in real time and check to see if you are on the same route.

Kakao Map: Similar to the Naver map. On both apps, you can find diners, banks, coffee shops etc. near you.

Kakao Metro: You can check the trains’ timetables (in Seoul), figure out where to transfer between lines and duration. The app also has a cool feature which tells you which car number to ride for a quicker transfer.

Kakao Bus: Although this app is not completely in English, it is still easy to navigate. You can use the bus stop number (written on every bus stop waiting area) to see which buses go there. You can see the bus timings even the next bus’s location. It is very convenient to use especially if you have to transfer from bus to bus.

Kakao Taxi: Kakao taxi app allows you to call a taxi to any location. The app is in English, so you can also type the address or name of the place in English. If you use a taxi, then you can also rate the ride and make any comments after getting off the taxi. Using the application can help you avoid getting “tricked”, since the address will already be selected in the taxi driver’s GPS system. There are different types of taxis, and the types are explained clearly here.

Walking: For short distances, walking is not a bad idea especially if the weather is great outdoors. Many Koreans prefer walking to close-by places and it gives you a chance to explore many hidden gems that you may not be able to find online. Taking a leisurely walk around the neighborhood or near your destination can be a fun way to experience Korean culture.

You can have surgery and enjoy all that Seoul has to offer without worrying about how to travel around Seoul.
