[Hwankyung Ilbo] Reporter JaeYoung Lee = Dr. Thiago, the best breast surgeon in Brazil, visited ID Hospital for a seminar under the topic ‘Present and future of breast surgery in Korea’ to have medical exchange.
According to ISAPS(International Survey on Aesthetic/Cosmetic), Brazil is a country with the highest number of getting and operating plastic surgery in the world along with the United States.
This visit was arranged by Allergan, a global pharmaceutical company that manufactures breast prostheses, and was set to Dr. Thiago’s visit to Korea. He has been working as the key doctor of Allergan in breast surgery area.
Hospital personnel said that Dr. Thiago visited ID Hospital in Korea to take a look at the excellent medical facilities that have been making the most successful growth in plastic surgery area. He also made a comparative analysis of the trend of plastic surgery in Korea to the global trend.
Dr. Thiago said, “the number of plastic surgery performed in Korea has made a noticeable increase compared to 5 years ago, and the size of breast prostheses used has gradually increased.”
He also predicted that the market for breast surgery and body contouring in Korea will extend to the entire region of Asia since Korea’s trend of plastic surgery spreads out to other Asian countries including China within 1~2 years.
Doctor DongYeon Hwang at ID Hospital said, “it was a great time of questions and answers related to breast surgery with a specialist who has rich and full experience in Brazil where much more breast surgeries are performed. Korea has a pride of being the best in plastic surgery, but I think we need to expand our horizon and conduct more research with a learning attitude.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Hwang will attend Natrelle Academy, a regular symposium held by Allergan, to give a lecture on breast surgery using prostheses.
