What is ID Hospital’s eyelid surgery?

ID Hospital’s Eye Surgery Center gives you an eye line that suits your entire face by carefully considering the proportional ratio between your forehead, eyebrows, nose, cheekbone and jaw line.
Eyelid surgery that does not consider each individual’s esthetic aspects and instead clings onto a particular eyelid surgery technique may give the patient a sense of awkwardness.
It is crucial to find the right method by considering the strengths and weaknesses of the patient’s eyes, including the size, shape and thickness of the crease, redistribution and removal of fat deposits, extending the length of the crease and changing the facial image through lateral epicathoplasty.
ID Hospital’s Eye Surgery Center values the overall ratio of the face when creating beautifully balanced eyes for our patients
1. The shape of the double eyelid crease
The crease is initially invisible in the beginning due to the presence of Mongolian line and becomes visible as it approaches to the middle of the eye forming a clean double eye lid.
Most Koreans choose the inline crease as it provides the most natural looking as well as rapid recovery after the surgery.
This form of crease is well suited for most patients who desire a natural double eye lid without the help of cosmetics.

The double eyelid begins with a crease forming from the medial side of the eye
The double eye lid is most prominent among eyes of Caucasians and therefore the surgery must be carefully conducted in order to keep the crease as natural looking as possible by keeping it close to the upper palpebral fissure.
Since the crease may look unnatural if it is too deep or too far from the eye, the more thinner line is recommended for natural looking
2. The size of the double eyelid crease
Inner crease starts invisibly from the medial commissure but the crease becomes distinct as it approaches lateral commissure from where pupil is located.
This method is intended for male patients or female patients with extremely small eyes who wish to have most natural looking double eye lid.
The medium inner crease becomes visible from the medial commissure with more distant from the upper palpebral fissure.
This method is ideal for patients with average size of eyes for shaper and well-defined eyes.

The large double eye lid provides a clear and distinct crease for patients with larger than average size of eyes.
Although attractive and alluring looking, the recovery rate is slower than other surgeries.

3. The characteristics of the eyelids

Thickness of skin
Any type of the surgeries can be performed and get great results with patients having thin tissue in the eyelid. However, for those with excess tissue or fat must take precaution before any type of surgeries.
In many cases, making an incision to remove excess tissue or fat is highly recommended, although surgery by burying the excess skin into the orbit is also an option but not popular for its potential recoil effect.

Sagging skin
It is not a good idea to remove sagging skin by making an incision surgery.
If the skin is resilient, then burying surgery is an option.
However, if the skin lacks resilience, the sagging skin must be appropriately removed by an incision surgery.

Thickness of eye muscles
Eyelid surgery becomes difficult for patients with thick layers of the extrinsic eye muscles that surround the eye.
The maximum amount of the muscle that can be removed is limited and too much removal may result in several layers of the eyelids and difficulty in opening and closing of the eye.
Therefore, it is highly recommended that patients should seek for a professional consultation prior to any types of eyelid surgery.

Eyelid fat tissues
Bulky and swollen looking eyelid is result of high fat concentration around the eye. In this case, enough fat tissue can be removed by surgery.
If the amount of the fat around the eye is not significant, fat graft can be performed to fill in the space.
Correct amount of addition and removal of fat tissue around the eye can make more natural and well-defined eyes.

4. Proportion of the eye

Location of pupil
There can few cases where the proportion of the eye is abnormal due to the position of the pupil.
In the case of both iris located medially, a patient can choose to balance the eye by making a precise incision at the inside of the eyelid.
When the pupils are located more laterally,

Angle of the outer corner of the eye
The angle of the outer corner is critical since it defines the both the shape of the eye and the overall structure of the face.
