When you are planning your surgery, it is easy to get overwhelmed with all the things you have to consider. This guide is meant to help you prep for your surgery day, like a Pro.
Surgery Day Prep: Before coming to Korea
Quit Smoking and Alcohol
Please stop smoking and drinking alcohol 2-3 weeks before surgery and at least a month after surgery (3 months is better, to heal faster and avoid getting infections). In order to heal well after surgery, smoking and alcohol should be avoided. This surgery day prep starts a while before the actual surgery but it is crucial for your safety.

Are you on Birth Control?
If you are taking birth control pills, you should stop taking it on the day before surgery and continue after your surgery. The instructions may differ, so make sure to let your online consultant know the pill’s name and dosage.
If you would like to avoid having surgery during your periods, then taking birth control pills one week before expected periods start date and stopping one day before the surgery is recommended.
Keep tabs on Medication
If you are taking any prescription medication, make sure to tell your online consultant before booking your surgery. After you get a confirmation that you can have surgery, you will be informed of your medication schedule before surgery. Make sure to keep a reminder so that you do not forget to take the medication as instructed.
Please stop taking any un-prescribed medications especially aspirin (it will make you bleed a lot during surgery which is dangerous) 1-2 weeks before the surgery. Any type of blood thinners will cause surgery complications so make sure to inform the hospital staff of the medication you are taking/have taken before surgery.

Hassle-free Payment Prep
You should check your credit card’s daily overseas limit to ensure you can pay with your card. All payments have to be done before you get the surgery. This is an important part of your surgery day prep, so make sure that your selected payment method is viable.
Surgery Day Prep
Fasting
You have to fast before surgery. Depending on the surgery, it could be 6-8 hours of fasting before surgery. You cannot have food, water, medication or even chewing gum.
Clothing
Depending on the weather, the types of clothing to pack will vary. The most important thing is to pack weather-appropriate clothing, and on surgery day, bring comfortable clothes.
Avoid clothes that have to be pulled up over the top. Hoodies, button-ups and loose pants are recommended for the surgery day. If it is winter, then wear a jacket along with comfy clothes.
Spring: Spring is quite pleasant but prone to some chilly showers. A hoodie or light cardigan is a good choice.
Summer: Summer can get quite hot, so tank tops and comfy pants are optimal. During the monsoon season, it is hot, humid and rainy and might be uncomfortable to walk outside for too long.

Fall: A sweater with a trench coat and neck scarf is good.
Winter: Depending on what level of cold you are used to, pack warm clothes and jackets. For people who live in warm climates, it is better to have surgery during warmer seasons like spring or fall.
Misc.: On the surgery day, your undergarments should not contain any metallic material. (no metallic clasps). Depending on the weather, bring a hat and sunglasses (rhinoplasty patients excluded) to shield your face from the sun’s rays.
Accessories
You cannot wear any accessories (especially metallic). You have to remove any piercings before the surgery. All piercings have t be removed so belly piercings, tongue etc. should be taken care of before the surgery.

Nails
Make sure to have any kind of nail polish, gel nails, acrylic nails etc. before coming to have surgery. There are places nearby where you can have the gel nails removal, but it is better to get it done before you come to Korea.
Personal Care
Do not wear any make-up, lotions/creams, deodorants on the surgery day. If you usually wear clip-in extensions, do not wear those to the surgery. Fake lashes should also be removed before surgery.
Food
Prepare for your first few days of rest by buying some food items and water to store in your hotel. Based on the surgeries you will undergo, the types of food you should eat may differ. You can have soft foods but you have to avoid greasy, salty and spicy foods. For facial contouring surgeries patients, steer clear of chewy foods for 1-3 months after surgery.

Getting sick
If you have caught a cold or have a runny nose, fever, mucus discharge, you have to postpone the surgery, so please be careful and try not to get sick before your surgery day.
