Jacky, 27 years old, came all the way from USA to have her facial feminization surgeries in Korea. She was born in the Philippines and raised in the United States. She is a transgender woman and has started her transition when she was 18 years old.

ID Hospital: Can you define what it means to be a transgender?
Jacky: A transgender person is someone whose sense of identity and gender does not correspond to their gender at birth.
ID Hospital: What hormones do you take? How long have you been on hormones? How did your body change with HRT?
Jacky: I take Estradiol/Estradiol Valerate injections. Spironolactone. I have been taking it on and off since I was 18 years old, and I fully commit to it at age 21. My body changed a lot, from my skin(more softer and feminine), hair growth(facial hair growth was minimize). My breasts became a little bit enlarged.
ID Hospital: What was it like coming out to family and friends? Were they accepting?
Jacky: Coming out towards my family and friends wasn’t that hard for me, luckily. They love me and have been supportive of me since day 1.

ID Hospital: Do people treat you differently? How do you deal with it?
Jacky: No, not at all. People respect me and treat me special.
ID Hospital: How do you feel after having your surgeries? Are you satisfied with the results of your facial feminization surgeries in Korea? How was the healing process?
Jacky: Right after the surgery, Honestly, I didn’t like it because I was so swollen initially. I was so impatient because I want the results right away but it doesn’t happen overnight. There needs to be healing and patience.
I am satisfied with the results, I love it but I feel like I want to do more. The healing process when I did my jaw surgery was tough, all other people who did it can relate. But the healing process from all other surgeries that I got wasn’t that bad.
I am glad I decided to get my facial feminization surgeries in Korea.

ID Hospital: Any tips for patients coming to Korea to have surgery for the first time?
Jacky: RESEARCH, RESEARCH, and RESEARCH!! They need to do a lot of research before they come to Korea. Because we all are unique and different at our own ways, and people have different cases on what needs to be done surgically.
If you do decide to have your facial feminization surgeries in Korea, I would suggest having them at ID Hospital.
ID Hospital: What would you say having these surgeries has done for your life?
Jacky: It actually changed a lot, physically!! It gave me enough boost of self-esteem to go out to the real world.

ID Hospital: Would you recommend ID Hospital to others, and why?
Jacky: YES OF COURSE. I would recommend, and I recommended ID hospital to some friends because I believe their competency. Everything is flawless!!!
ID Hospital: What other surgeries have you had? Will you have more surgical procedures?
Jacky: I had breast augmentation and body contouring.

ID Hospital: What would you like to say to other transgender patients? Any messages you would like to share?
Jacky: Short and sweet. Hey LADIES!! I just want to tell you that we all are beautiful!!!
