Want big, beautiful eyes? We will show you how to…

Eyes are used to convey all ranges of emotions, from a genuine smile to sadness; the full spectrum is expressed and communicated through eye contact. Big, beautiful eyes are a sign of youth and make the person look more like an infant, which is found to be attractive. Studies show that adults who look young are considered more beautiful than mature-looking adults.[1]

A common misconception is that only Asians have smaller eyes, but that is a trait shared throughout a variety of races. So as the beauty standards differ worldwide, big, beautiful eyes are considered the best universally. There are many makeup techniques to create the illusion of bigger eyes, but the effects only last until the makeup is removed. For those seeking a permanent solution, surgery is the route to take.

Double eyelid surgery: Before and After

Double eyelid surgery is one of the top 5 surgeries performed in 2017 according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) with 83% of the blepharoplasty surgeries accredited to Caucasians. In Korea, it is one of the popular surgeries that can be performed before reaching the legal adult age. But double eyelid surgery does not really make the eyes bigger per se; it rather creates an eyelid crease.

On the quest for big, beautiful eyes, other surgeries were created to elongate and expand the eyes in all directions. Ability to have the surgeries is governed by the individuals’ eye socket space, amongst other factors. These surgeries illustrated below all can be done together or individually as required to create bigger eyes.

Double eyelid surgery: The eyelid crease is created either by non-incisional method or incisional double eyelid surgery. The type of surgery is determined by the amount of excess skin and fat in the eyelid area, so seeing a surgeon for a face to face consultation is advised.

Ptosis correction surgery: For people who have droopy eyelid caused by weak levator muscles, this surgery is recommended. The levator muscles are tied to help raise the eyelid and create big, beautiful eyes with defined eyelids.

Epicanthoplasty: One of the ways to get big, beautiful eyes is to extend the inner corner of the eye. The epicanthus fold is also removed with this surgery.

Lateral Canthoplasty: The incision is made on the outer corner of the eye to extend the eye length horizontally. The eye size is therefore altered with this surgery.

Lateral Hotz Canthoplasty: For people whose eyes are slanted laterally on the outer corner of the eye, this surgery will bring the eye corner downwards so it is horizontal.
