What is Mommy Makeover? Everything you need to know

Mommy makeover refers to a range of surgeries aimed at women, to get their pre-pregnancy looks back.

Women’s bodies change, sometimes drastically, due to childbirth. Some changes go back to normal, but for some, they have to resort to outside help to achieve those pre-pregnancy results.

Mommy makeover surgeries are a broad spectrum but mostly body rejuvenation surgeries come to mind. However, for many mothers, the face is just as important. Carrying a baby and nourishing it for 9 months leaves most mothers with depleted energy, vitamins and minerals and along with the sleepless nights, looking tired cannot be avoided.

After getting used to having a baby around, or even after giving birth to a few kids, women need to take some time off for themselves.
A mommy makeover can lift your spirits, bring up that confidence and give you a new lease on life.

Let’s take a look at the types of surgeries that fall under the ”Mommy Makeover” bandwagon.

Mommy Makeover Facial Surgeries

What if you wanted to change the way you look completely? What if you no longer want to have that hooked nose or sleepy-looking eyes? What if you decided you finally want to have your ideal face?

In those types of cases, a full mommy makeover will transform your face. Tracy is a 38-year-old patient from the USA, and she felt that she looked tired. After giving birth to 3 children, she felt it was time for her to also get what she always wanted. A vibrant, younger, smaller face was what she had in mind.

She had V-line surgery, Cheekbone surgery, Rhinoplasty, Forehead reduction, and fat graft. Each of these surgeries helped her get the type of face she always wanted.

Mommy Makeover Anti-aging Surgeries

Facial lifting surgeries come to mind for anti-aging surgeries but fat graft and fillers, botox are also included in this category.

A person looks older either because their skin has lost its elasticity or the existing volume (fat) is lost. Both can happen at once so lifting coupled with fat graft/fillers is a good option for anti-aging mommy makeover procedures.

Mommy Makeover Breast Surgeries

After breastfeeding, the breasts may lose their volume and look “deflated”. With time, the breasts may also start to sag. For many women, breasts size and shape is important to make them feel feminine and attractive.

For women who need surgery, breast augmentation or breast lift surgeries are recommended to create volume and natural looking breasts.

Mommy Makeover Body Contouring

For women whose bodies don’t bounce back after giving birth, liposuction and tummy tuck are good options for contouring the abdomen area. For other problem areas like thighs and arms, liposuction is also an option for getting rid of the excess fat.

Non-surgical Mommy Makeover Tips

Dermal fillers: For those who are scared of getting surgery, fillers and botox are good to add some volume and get rid of wrinkles. The results are not permanent, but it still is a good way to look younger.

Non-invasive anti-aging: These types of procedures are good for mild to medium saggy skin and can really give you a facial rejuvenation without going under the knife.

Collagen: Adding it to your diet through food or supplementing will help your body repair and rebuild itself. You can also add foods that encourage your body’s collagen production. Healthy proteins and fats are also good for maintaining your skin.

Skin care: Cleansing dirt, makeup, and products off your face is important to keep your skin clear and pores clean. Moisturizing your skin and staying hydrated will also give you a healthy glow. Exfoliating your skin will ensure that you do not have any build-up or clogged pores, and dead skin cells are removed. Use quality skin care with minimal chemicals to take care of your skin health.

Protection from the elements: Protecting your skin from the harmful sun rays by wearing a hat, sunscreen or staying indoors during the sunniest part of the day, will help you in the long run. If you live in a country with severe weather conditions, take the necessary steps to care for your skin.

Healthy lifestyle: Diet, exercise, releasing stress, sleep etc. all directly and indirectly affect our health and our looks. Even if you are a busy mom, make time to care for yourself.

Lastly, we want to encourage all women to feel good about themselves. Even if surgery is not your thing, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take time off and care for yourself.

A manicure here, a new hairstyle there, is just as good as a mommy makeover, as long as it gives you the confidence boost you need to be the best version of yourself.
