Lifting procedures can take away years from your face making you look a few years younger. Depending on the skin type, sagging level, age, ethnicity etc. the right type of lifting procedure is recommended by the surgeon upon consultation. To explain the differences, the types of recommended procedures are divided by age groups.
20s to 30s: For patients in their early 20s, minimally invasive v3 lifting is recommended, especially if facial contouring surgeries have been performed. Depending on the type of skin and sagging, the surgeon will recommend either V3 or V-lastic lift.
Both surgeries lift the SMAS layers, but the thread used is different. V3 uses a melting thread therefore the results are not as long lasting as V-lastic lifting. Both surgeries are non-incisional lifting procedures. These surgeries last from 2 to 5 years depending on the lifestyle and skin care habits.
30s to 40s: Depending on the area and level of sagging, either non-incision or incisional lifting procedures will be recommended for this age group. For non-incisional lifting procedures, V-lastic would be recommended for patients who have sagging skin that can be lifted with this method. For patients who have more sagging skin, incisional lifting is required.
40s to 50s: Most patients in this age group require incisional lifting procedures. Mini facelift is used to lift the lower part of the face, whereas temple lifting is used to lift the middle part of the face. Mini face lift is done with a 3mm incision behind the tragus and the skin, subcutaneous fat, muscle and SMAS layers are all lifted individually for maximum lifting. For patients who have sagging cheeks, a temple lift will lift the cheek area. The incision is made on the hairline above the temple, and the all the layers are lifted. Additional fat graft (adding fat) or accusculpt (fat removal laser) may be required depending on the patient.
50s and above: Beyond the 50s, some patients (depending on skin sagging level and genetics) may still be able to have a mini face-lift or temple lift. However, most patients require a full face lift. The incision differs for this surgery, and the healing time is also longer, due to it being the most effective out of the lifting procedures. For patients who have excessive sagging under the jaw and neck area, neck lift is also recommended together.
Ulthera is a non-invasive lifting procedure that lifts and tightens the skin using HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) technology. The special lifting machine accredited by FDA and KFDA.
It works by delivering the collagen-boosting treatment deep into the layers of the skin (4.5mm deep). The number of shots are selected based on the level of sagging. The number of shots are then divided and adjusted in different directions, using different tips depending on the skin area.
The results are not visible right away; you have to wait for 1-3 months to see the results. The type of lifting can be recommended if the patient does not wish to undergo surgical lifting, but depending on the sagging skin and age, the effects vary. Please keep in mind that no non-surgical treatment will give the same results as a lifting surgery.
