True or False? 20 Plastic Surgery Myths Explained

True or False?

On this post, we will dispel some myths about plastic surgery that most people seem to have.

Sometimes it is hard to separate the truth from the rumors so we specifically asked our followers what their main concerns are.

Plastic surgery results are temporary? False

Plastic surgery results are not temporary. However, the surgery results can change as you age, which is normal. For example, if you have a facelift at 45, you may need a re-touch at 60 or 65 but that is natural since the aging process does not stop. Another example is bone surgery, after shaving the jaw bones, the bones will not continue to grow or change as you age so it is a permanent change to your facial bone structure.

You can apply an ointment for fading the scar, one month after surgery (easily available at any pharmacy in Korea) and that will help. If the scar still bothers you, 6 months after your surgery, you can get laser treatment for the scars.

Can the nipple sensitivity permanently be altered by breast surgery? False

The facial bones are the structures that hold the facial skin, muscles, tissues and fat upright. Reducing the size of the bones can result in sagging, depending on your skin elasticity. The younger you are, and the better your skin elasticity is, it is easy to bounce back and the skin tightens on its own. For other cases, an additional lifting procedure is recommended to prevent any sagging.

There are different types of confidence. Confidence in your looks, skills, abilities etc. Plastic surgery will improve your confidence in your looks but it is up to you how you will use that confidence. You have to use that confidence to improve your life. If you have a negative personality, having surgery will not make your life better. Working on your emotional health is just as important. Read this post about emotional health after surgery.

Can you get veneers and V-line surgery together? False

Right after V-line surgery, you will not be able to open your mouth wide enough to have the veneers done. We recommend waiting 6 months post-surgery to get the veneers. Getting the veneers right before surgery is also not recommended because there is a higher chance of the veneers falling off or getting chipped during the surgery. ID Hospital does have a dental clinic and we can offer to fix the veneers, but it would be hard to fix right after the surgery because you won’t be able to open your mouth wide enough.
